Pixel Logo is a great solution if you’re looking for professional-quality logos on the cheap. They have pretty solid talent on their roster, which shines through in the quality of the designs. If you’re in the market for something unique, though, you may want to look somewhere else.

Pixel Logo’s sales process is a bit different from other logo companies. Instead of offering you custom designs right off the bat, you can browse through their catalog, find a design you like and buy a copy of it, with your brand incorporated. I ordered this route several times for a few start-up websites and results were actually better than I expected.

Since the designs are available to all their customers, though, there’s a chance you will end up with logos similar to other folks. In fact, I’ve already seen a couple of guys use the same design as what I have with at least two of my sites. It’s a good solution for small local businesses and niche websites who can benefit from a professionally-done emblem without needing the distinctiveness most larger brands will require.

You can also decide to take the design off the market by buying it from Pixel Logo. Simply pay $199 and the design will be permanently removed from their catalog. Honestly, I don’t see this as a good solution since tons of people could easily have already ordered logos with that exact same graphic - there’s really no way to know for sure.

They have custom design options too, although price varies depending on their estimates. Personally, I’ve never gone this route with them. With so many logo companies offering unique designs for affordable prices, I doubt Pixel Logo gets many custom orders.

I use Pixel Logo two ways.

First, I use their gallery of designs to look for graphics that I can use for the many websites I start up on a regular basis. The graphics, more likely than not, have been used by other companies. Since you can ask for a number of small differences - a change in color here, a different font there and a slight size adjustment - it can easily look unique, with the professional luster that makes my small one-man websites look like a high-end affair. Cheap and fast, this service is simply in a league of its own. In fact, I’ve never found anything like it online.

Second, I will occasionally require 100% unique, custom logos. I’ve used them for my real businesses, including the LLC that owns all my websites, along with a few other operations where a logo can make the difference between garnering attention or being dismissed as a two-bit hustler. While there are many firms offering this, I have yet to see ones the manage to produce the same quality material that Pixel Logo has done for me.

Granted, the price of their custom designs is a bit more steep than your run-of-the-mill online logo business. I mean, I’ve seen folks who offer custom designs for like $100 or less. My philosophy, however, is that you get what you pay for. Spend chump change and the likelihood of getting “chump work” increases exponentially.

I find their prices a bit steep. In fact, if you’re looking for the best bang for the buck, I’d hazard against booking with these guys. At $39 for a non-exclusive design and $199 to pull a non-exclusive logo out of the marketplace, there are more economical ways to dispose of your budget. In fact, you should be able to commission local art students to craft logos built out of royalty-free stock designs with a little tweaking for $20 or less - I know I have.

Here’s the thing, though. The quality of their designs are sick! It’s really, really good, professional-quality stuff. Since it’s editable too, you can add easily add in a couple of items to separate it from others who have bought the same logo. Hire the same student designers for $20, ask them to add some tweaks and you can easily end up with a masterful piece of graphic for a grand total of $60 - not a bad way to spend your budget. It’s not the best solution, but I’ll be damned if it doesn’t turn up one of the best results!

The pool of choices from the pre-made graphic designs are plentiful. Every time I look at it, I’m continually amazed at the level of skill their designers seem to be at. Pixel Logo aren’t my first choice for graphic needs, but they’re consistently among the options I always keep on tap.
